Tiny Worlds

A “survey” of the smaller objects in the Solar System, such as moons, comets, asteroids, ring systems, solar wind particles, and man-made satellites.

John Roller's Bio

Rev. Dr. John Herschel Roller (yes, named in honor of astronomer Sir John Herschel!) is an ordained Advent Christian minister, nearing retirement at the end of a 47-year career in pastoral ministry (the “Dr.” is a Ph.D. in Religion). Astronomy has been his hobby for even longer than that: 66 years (ever since his first visit to New York City’s Hayden Planetarium). Recently, deteriorating eyesight has been driving him away from naked-eye observations with binoculars and telescopes and leading him toward looking at astrophotography images via the Internet. There is so much information available FREE online these days! His special interest in “tiny worlds” dates back to the mid-1960s when he read a “young adult science fiction” novel based on the idea that Asteroid 433 (Eros) is actual an alien spaceship (that’ll be mentioned in the talk).
