Roper Mountain Astronomers

About Us

Roper Mountain Astronomers is a non-profit organization which promotes amateur astronomy activities in Upstate South Carolina. In addition, the club provides education and volunteer support services to the Roper Mountain Science Center.

Roper Mountain Astronomers was formed in 1987 shortly after the dedication of the 23-inch Clark refractor telescope at the Charles E. Daniel Observatory on Roper Mountain. Since then we have served Greenville area schools and other area organizations with astronomy outreach programs.

We meet the third Thursday of each month at the Roper Mountain Science Center. Guest speakers or members present the main program on various topics. We also hold at least one Star Party each month, and sometimes more.
